Why did you choose CMU:  CMU was the first place I auditioned and it set the bar very high. It’s the kind of place where the people are genuine and the environment encourages excellence. The didactics and simulation labs are very thorough, and I appreciate that the hospitals we work in serve a large catchment area which offers a mix of community and rural medicine. I have full confidence that this program will help me become the best emergency physician I can be, and I couldn’t be happier to have matched here.

Personal Hobbies/Interests: Soccer, running, lifting, hiking, skiing, yoga, NFL football and college basketball, my black labs, spending time with my baby

Favorite Things to do around Michigan: Going to the lakes, camping up camping up North, long runs on the rail trails, Detroit sports!

Professional Career Interests: Community, ultrasound, and global emergency medicine.

Why did you choose CMU: I liked the strong leadership and support the program provides to the residents. The increased training opportunities given that ED residents are unopposed.

Personal Hobbies/Interests: Islamic Studies, Board games, Hiking, trying new foods, spending time with family and most recently pickleball.

Favorite Things to do around Michigan: Hiking, enjoying the nature and checking out all the ice cream spots around here.

Medical School: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine - Bradenton

Professional Career Interests: I am passionate about providing excellent community-based emergency care, with particular interest in bedside ultrasound for its role in rapid diagnostics and procedural guidance. I also have particular interest in pain management and ultrasound guided nerve blocks which can offer immediate benefit.

Why did you choose CMU: I chose CMU because during my audition rotation, it was clear this is a strong training program with engaged, knowledgeable faculty who genuinely care about resident growth. The program has solid resources including a state-of-the-art sim lab, which showed me how seriously hands on training is taken here. I was also drawn to the resident culture; everyone I met was supportive, down-to-earth, and seemed to really enjoy working together. Also, being close to my family and support system was a big priority for me. I’m excited to train in the region I grew up and contribute to a community that I take pride in.

Personal Hobbies/Interests: Outside of medicine I am an electric guitarist and avid golfer. I enjoy seeing local live music and occasionally have the chance to play a few songs with my musician friends. My wife and I prioritize spending time together whether it’s watching shows, traveling, or just doing something new each week.

Favorite Things to do around Michigan: Some of my favorite things to do in Michigan include golfing in the summer, snowmobiling and snowboarding in the winter, and spending time up north at our lake house and Mackinac Island. I also enjoy going to local events and hitting my favorite hole in the wall restaurants. Most importantly, I love spending time with my nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Professional Career Interests: Practice in a semi-rural community-level two trauma center.

Why did you choose CMU: I chose CMU’s Emergency Medicine residency for its supportive culture and outstanding training environment. The one-to-one attending-to-resident mentorship provides personalized guidance, fostering confidence in clinical and procedural skills. With over 93,000 annual ED visits at two Level II trauma centers, CMU offers extensive exposure to complex cases and minimal competition for procedures, ensuring robust hands-on experience. The program’s structure grants the freedom to practice to the full extent of our scope of practice, with consults readily available when needed, preparing me for independent practice in settings like single- or dual-physician shops with limited specialty support. CMU’s innovative curriculum and state-of-the-art simulation center equip me to become a versatile emergency physician ready to serve Northern Michigan and beyond.

Personal Hobbies/Interests: Beyond medicine, I enjoy mountain biking, boating, camping, and walks with my wife and our dog, Luna. I’m also passionate about aquaponics and restoring classic cars, most recently a 1972 Chevy pickup.

Favorite Things to do around Michigan: I love Michigan’s outdoor adventures, from mountain biking the Saginaw Valley Rail Trail to boating on Saginaw Bay and camping in state parks. I also enjoy local festivals, especially the Munger Potato Festival Demolition Derby.
