Derrick VanWay (right), a double major in Anthropology and Music, brought two djembe drums for his presentation on West African drumming styles. Broadcast and Cinematic Arts major Armarion Bates (left) volunteered to learn how to play.

Students in the course, taught by Professor Laura Cochrane, also learn about African arts, economies, politics, religions, heritages, social movements, and environments.
