First Meeting With Your Conduct Proceedings Officer

The purpose of the first meeting with a Conduct Proceedings Officer (CPO) is to determine if a student has committed a violation listed in the Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities and Disciplinary Procedures Section 3.2 (Specific Regulations Concerning Student Conduct). The CPO wants to hear the student's side of the story.

What to expect during your CPO meeting

• The CPO will introduce themself to the student and take an opportunity to get to know the student. 
• The CPO will explain the conduct process to the student.
• The CPO will review the incident report with the student. 
• The Student will be asked to share their side of the story. 

• The CPO will determine if a violation has occurred and offer possible options or next steps for the student.
• The CPO will answer any questions the student may have. 
• The goal of the meeting with the student is to learn from the incident and then continue on the journey to graduation.   

Possible outcomes of a CPO meeting

• The CPO may determine whether a student violated university policy.
• If the student admits a violation and accepts the sanction(s) issued by the CPO, then the conduct process will be concluded.
• If the CPO and the Student disagree whether a student violated university policy, a university hearing will be scheduled to resolve the incident.
• The Student or the CPO may request that a university hearing be scheduled to resolve the incident.
